North Star Trading Company

In a small shop on the quiet south end of Whidbey Island, North Star Trading Co. is making the most comfortable footwear in the country.  For over forty years we have hand-crafted a variety of shearling sheepskin slippers and hats.  We die-cut this soft and durable material using our own patterns and designs and sew everything in house.  We are proud to say that we source all of our high-quality shearling sheepskin from right here in the USA.  Ranging from our original soft-soled indoor SNUGG to the award-winning SCOOT, we make the perfect slipper for just about everyone.

In 1978, soon after relocating from the Napa Valley, Elizabeth and Patrick VanDyke started the North Star Trading Company.  They crafted their new ideas right out of the living room of their house atop Queen Anne hill in Seattle.  From there they took to the tables in the north arcade of the Pike Place Market and began selling the first iterations of the amazing slippers and hats North Star continues to make today.  As time marched on, Liz and Pat grew tired of the city life and wanted more room for their young children, Kate and Nick, to grow up.  In 1984 they moved to beautiful Whidbey Island and continued to run the business from their new home.  Now, many years and many products later, Nick is running the business with the same eye for quality, detail and customer service as always and bringing into the fold new customers from near and far.  We are a family business that makes the best sheepskin slippers and hats in the world, and North Star invites you to experience them for yourself.
